Avoiding Credit Card Debt Relief Scams

March 13th, 2012

Benefits of Debt Relief Programs

People with mounting debts can reap major benefit from debt relief programs. These programs are designed for this specific purpose but choosing the specific terms of the plans could affect each individual’s financial condition differently. If you wish to free yourself off any debt, then you must choose a debt relief program that meets your needs.

For instance, debt negotiation is one common debt relief program that offers benefits to the debtor. It saves money since you will get to pay a reduced amount from the original amount of debt you owe, it will save you time as professional debt negotiators will be the one discussing this debt reduction process on your behalf. If you are able to choose a reliable and sound debt relief program, most people with debts find themselves free of debt within two or three years.

Common Scam Techniques

While there are several legitimate debt relief companies available in the industry, there are a few others who are looking to take advantage of people’s urgency to settle their debts. Like with legitimate debt relief companies, they offer debtors a promise of the opportunity to become debt-free. Sadly though, they most often target individuals who are desperate to find debt relief since they cannot afford to lose their money.

There are a few common tell-tale signs that the debt relief program you are dealing with is a scam. Hence, identifying them will help you recognize whom to trust and whom not to in terms of finding solution for your debt problems.

Charging to Fix Your Credit Report

There are a few debt relief programs who offer their services of cleaning out your credit report and any errors with massive fees. This process is quite intricate, which is the reason why most people often opt to hire professionals to do it for them. However, you need to be extra careful with choosing since some of them can be outright deceptive. Another reason why such claims are considered scam is that you can fix credit report free of any charge. There are three credit bureaus from which you can acquire a free copy of your yearly credit report. When you have the copy, study it for any false information or suspicious transactions.

Loaning To Fix Bad Credit

This particular scam technique affects debtors in two ways. First, you are charged for a loan that you are not even qualified for to begin with. Therefore, the money you spend trying to settle the loan is put to waste since you could have used that trying to settle off your previous credit card debts. Next, although your creditor makes claim that you have loaned out money, you never get to receive any money. Worse thing is, these scams do not provide you with a legitimate company name so they basically run away with your money while you are left with no way to trace them.

False Identity

This is a sure sign that you are dealing with bogus credit repair companies. When they ask you to create a new credit identity to attain a high credit score, then you need to realize that this is a complete illegal move. Even if you are unfamiliar with legal laws, then everyone might be aware that creating false identity is a clear violation of law.

Therefore, make it a point to screen out the credit repair company you are dealing with before you decide to work with them. If you are serious about getting rid of any credit card debt you currently have, then opting for illegal means is not the best way to do it. Moreover, being subjected to scams would cause you money that could have been used to pay off your credit card debts.

Five Things You Must Avoid In Building Trust

March 9th, 2012

Trust is much more easily destroyed than it is built. Building trust is like building a sandcastle – it’s incredibly beautiful when it’s built, but just one mistake could wash it all away.

Here are five of the most common yet deadly trust-hindering mistakes to avoid.

Selling Too Loudly

Some sales letters give the impression that they’re “screaming” at the reader to buy.

While great copywriters can make this style of copywriting work, for the vast majority of people, this style will more likely turn visitors off than actually generate sales.

Not Acknowledging Objections

If there’s a glaring objection in your product or offer, address it upfront. Don’t pretend it’s not there.

For example, if you’re selling a herbal supplement that’s effective but causes gas for a couple weeks, acknowledge it. Customers will probably read about that in reviews and forums anyway. Address the objection and make it seem like less of an issue by comparing it to the benefits.

Not Having a Professional Design

Do ugly sales letters outpull well-designed web pages? For a single-time sale, the answer is often yes.

But in the long run, if you want to get people to trust you and buy from you again and again, having bad-looking sales letters and websites will hurt you rather than help you.

You can create really spectacular-looking websites, without a dip in conversion. All you need is a great designer and a little bit of split testing.

Making a Claim You Can’t Prove

Don’t claim that you can teach someone how to make $10,000 a month if you can’t prove your claim. Never make a claim that’s bigger than what you can prove.

Even a smaller claim that’s less impressive will generate more conversions than if you made a huge claim that you can’t prove.

Make a claim that’s reasonable and let the customers decide for themselves whether or not to buy. Of course, you should still use powerful language and write great copy, but at the core you always need to be clear and honest about what you’re offering.

Not Paying Attention to Brand

Your brand affects your traffic and your conversions. It’s an often overlooked element by many marketers.

Don’t underestimate how much people might know about you before they land on your website. There’s a good chance they’ll know about the quality of your product, your credibility as a person and what other customers have experienced – all before they land on your site. You can bet that’ll influence their decisions.

Pay attention to your brand. Release top-notch products and provide first class service. It might not seem like it’ll pay off in the short term, but in the long run it’ll make all the difference.

These are five of the most common trust-hindering mistakes to avoid. Avoid these mistakes, diligently build trust and your conversions will rise as a result.

Design Tips for Content Websites

February 5th, 2012

Having great design on a content website will play an important part in your user’s overall experience. Good design can increase trust, while poor design can decrease trust. Better designed websites will get more opt-ins, more sales and more referrals.

In general, design plays a pretty big part in the overall web marketing picture.

Here are a few design tips for content websites.

Reduce Your Ads

Yes, you need to make money. However, crowding your page with advertisements really isn’t great design.

In fact, a study of several hundred thousand websites showed that statistically, having more ads on your site means you’re slightly less likely to rank well than other sites with fewer ads.

Your ads should integrate well with your website in general. The ads should be relevant, and placed strategically to get your user’s attention without being intrusive.

One or Two Images per Page

Having high quality, professional photos on your page can really add to the aesthetics of your site. However, crowding your page with graphics makes it look very unprofessional.

Try to have just one or two carefully chosen images per page. If your article is really long you can have one or two more, but try to avoid having images too close to one another.

Make sure any photos on your website are crisp, taken with a high quality camera. They also need to be relevant to the content. Try to have to color corrected before publishing, so the colors and contrast really stand out.

A Stellar Header Graphic

Your header graphic is one of the most important elements of what your website looks like. After all, it’ll be on the top of every page visitors go to, affecting their overall experience.

If you’re not a professional designer and you’re doing your website yourself, this is perhaps the one area where you should consider hiring someone professional to do it for you.

Your header graphic should contain just one or two graphical elements and just one or two text elements. The text elements and the graphic elements can’t both be too loud, or they’ll clash with one another or detract from the overall content.

A Coordinated Color Scheme

Your site overall will generally look better with relatively similar colors. Use complimentary colors or adjacent colors on the color wheel in your design colors.

Avoid colors schemes that clash or have one color standing out too much. The goal of your design shouldn’t be to bring attention to your design, but to create a positive framework for visitor to consume your content.

These are a few of the most important elements to designing content websites that look good and make people want to stay on your site longer.

Networking On Facebook

December 11th, 2011

Networking On Facebook
eBusiness Mastary V02
Networking on Facebook is quite different than networking on forums or other mediums and it is imperative that you follow some etiquette in order to be successful at it, otherwise you could end up doing yourself more harm than good.
Some marketers suggest maintaining two separate profiles; one for personal and one for business, however, you will find that majority of marketers maintain only one profile, due to the fact that they simply do not have the time to maintain two.
I personally think that one is sufficient and that there is nothing wrong with people getting an inside look at your life away from business. Potential customers and partners always like to know that you are a real person and this gives them more of an opportunity to not only build stronger relationships with you, but relate with you more on different levels. The reality is, sometimes it just takes one common thing, aside from business to get that connection built with you. ie: you may have children of the same age, have the same interests in music, share spiritual interests, travel to similar destinations etc.
These simple factors can get the conversations started between each of you and at one point or another, business will be discussed. And if you have taken the time and effort to maintain the relationship, you are more than likely to have a successful business relationship with that person. It could be the sale of a product, partnership or a joint venture, no matter what it is, just be certain to maintain the relationship on a positive level and you will reap continuous rewards for doing so.
Since we have discussed what to do, we should discuss things you should not do. Upon meeting a new friend, you should not tell them in an introduction message or by posting on their wall, that you have a successful business doing “whatever”, as most marketers find this to be a turn off and will probably dismiss conducting business with you at any time. They may go as so far to block, remove and report you to Facebook for spamming, because technically it is spamming. Unless you are a door to door sales person or work in a call centre, you would never make an introduction of sorts in person, therefore that type of discourtesy extends to Facebook as well, people as a general rule do not like it.
One of the biggest intrusions on Facebook, aside from apps is, tag spam and due to some of the tag spam containing viruses, marketers are quite leery of it and rightfully so when it can harm one of their prized possessions – their computers.
I highly recommend refraining from using tag spam as a means to promote your business, you will not only just annoy the heck out of people, you could be reported for spamming, end up losing your Facebook account altogether, and I am most certain that is something you would not want to happen. Facebook is a fantastic marketing tool that can truly benefit your business, so long as you use it with care towards your targeted audience.

Just what is Intelligent Explorer? For your safety, you really need to know

August 24th, 2011

I recently hit, by mistake, what I thought was an Explorer upgrade option.  It turned out to be a pop-up appearing legitimate but really was not. It uploaded a product called Intelligent Explorer on my machine.  What a nightmare!

I did some research on the web and found messages like this one from a BullGuard Antivirus Forum,

“PLEASE HELP!!!  I HAVE A SPYWARE, TROJAN AND HIJACKER ON MY COMPUTER.  I HAVE RUN BULLGUARD, CWSHREDDER AND AD-AWARE.  ALL HAVE PICKED UP THE VIRUSES AND SAID THAT THEY HAVE BEEN MOVED/REMOVED BUT WHEN I LOG ONTO THE INTERNET THAT DAMN INTELLIGENT EXPLORER TOOLBAR IS SHOWING”

Another message from spywareinfo Forum goes something like this:

“Hey I’m having issues with something called Internet explorer toolbar – Intelligent explorer. I can’t find a way to remove it from my comp and I really don’t want to reinstall windows. I’ve used spybot, ad-ware, and cw shredder but nothing seems to work.”

It appears that Intelligent Explorer allows other software to be downloaded to your machine and this is where the problem occurs. What is even more remarkable is that by downloading Intelligent Explorer, their license grants them the right to install software add-ins on your computer at their will.  Take a look at what the software license for Intelligent Explore says (go to http://www.ieplugin.com/terms.html to read it all):

“You grant to us the right, exercisable by us until you uninstall the Software or this agreement is otherwise terminated, to provide to you the Service of downloading and causing to be displayed advertising material on your computer, through ‘pop-up’ or other display while you use your browser.  You acknowledge and agree that installation of the Software may automatically modify toolbars and other settings of your browser.  By installing the Software you agree to such modifications.”

The company, IBC incorporated, is incorporated in Belize.  I really can’t believe this license!

One end user found highly objectionable pop-up advertisements generated by this software bundled with Intelligent Explorer in the form of extreme pornography.

I have yet to break this.

Intelligent Explorer is a plug-in, which can create a new home page, as well as start up and endless loop of pop-ups. You can remove the view bar, but then starting up Internet Explorer will cause it to reappear.  I asked some friends to help, and no one could tell me what to do.

This is what I did:

I bought a copy of a program called XoftSpy and it removed the software. It took two scans and a reboot to do it. This is not an advertisement for this product.  They advertised it was free, which it was to run, but then I had to buy it to actually fix anything. It cost me $40 and I am sure that there are freeware products out there as well, but that is what ended the nightmare for me. Other spyware products I have seen out there include spybot, NoAdware, Spyware Eliminator, Pal Spyware Remover, and Spyware C.O.P.

    Let the buyer beware!

Amazing Technology and Your Online Marketing Strategy

December 4th, 2010

If your online marketing strategy isn’t working, then you might need to introduce some technology to your website.  If you current marketing promotions are going well, then you might be able to improve them even more with some added technology.  Fancy bells and whistles on a website just for fun aren’t the type of technology that will help you increase sales and grow your business.  But technology designed to do some very specific things can make quite a difference.

If you sell products, there are some website enhancements you’ll want to consider in your online marketing strategy. Of course, you must have clear pictures of your products, with more than one picture per product, ideally. You’ll want the customer to be able to click the picture and enlarge it to see the product even more clearly.  There’s no real technology involved with that.  But to give the customer the closest experience possible to actually being able to pick up and examine the product, look into the software that allows you to show 3D images on your website.  The customer can click on the image or on a slider bar and drag to turn the image completely around so they can get a better feel for the object. This online marketing strategy is becoming more popular as companies realize how effective it is.

You could also look into the software that allows a customer to hold the mouse pointer over an image and zoom into it.  This usually also allows the customer to move the mouse and see various parts of the object incredibly up close.  Remember in your online marketing strategy that everything you do to bring the customer closer to the item they want to purchase will increase the likelihood of a sale. You’ll also want to ensure that your shopping cart and checkout system is as absolutely simple and easy as you can make it.  Any slight hangup, delay or problem is just one more reason for the customer not to buy from you.

If you don’t sell products but services or information instead, don’t discount the addition of pictures to your website.  Screen shots are particularly helpful when selling software, for instance.  While adding pictures doesn’t require much technology, you’ll want to give your website more appeal by adding sound and video. When you’re selling a service, for instance, a video of someone explaining the service in a friendly, casual tone can go a long way toward giving a customer a positive impression.  Even audio clips the customer can listen to that break down concepts into simple steps can be an important part of your online marketing strategy.

Video that shows screenshots and still shots as well as a person speaking or demonstrating something can be particularly effective.  Get the software necessary to make these recording.  Don’t forget how annoying it can be to have something suddenly start playing, though, so give the customer the option.  Then add them to your website as part of your technology online marketing strategy.

<a href=”http://www.clickmybrick.com/”>Click my Brick Directory</a>

Effective way in promoting a website, because good content that is king.

June 1st, 2008

Today, both the merchants and the affiliates can see clearly that can work for both of them. The merchant sees affiliate marketing today as the chance to advertise their products at a lower cost. The affiliates, on the other hand, sees affiliate marketing as an easy way of earning profits online by doing what they like most, and that is by creating websites.affiliate marketing

You can actually generate a full-time income by means of affiliate marketing and you can do it at home, and yes, even while you sleep. You must have a good web site to begin with. It must have good promotional and informative contents, pleasing design, inviting banner ads and all other important elements in an affiliate marketer’s web site. It would be great if you have exhausted other means of advertising such as newsletters, email marketing, message boards and ad listings such as Google AdWords. You just have to go online once in a while to check your site and update it and to watch over the development of your marketing program. Does this sound so easy?

Overture drives targeted traffic by keeping you away from the general keywords that are very common and usually come expensive and by casting a wide net of laser-focused keywords that are more targeted, not so expensive, and with high conversion rate. I’ll tell you, attracting laser-targeted traffic through Overture is nothing but a “Win-Win” Situation.

internet as well as the affiliate marketing world has given birth

We can’t tell, for sure, if people are making a mistake by choosing a high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  But we can definitely say that they are making a large mistake if they ignore residual affiliate programs.  Residual affiliate programs would indeed pay at a lower rate, but merchants offering such kind of programs would generally pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a single affiliate initiated sale!  That means, for the same effort you made in promoting a particular affiliate program, you get paid only once in a one-time commission program, and a regular and ongoing commission for a residual program!

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process by which webmasters or online business owners utilize strategic copy to augment their website’s status. It is certain that the internet has grown so fast over the years and the competition for the best search engine position has created an enormous market. Therefore, better understanding the fundamental elements of Search Engine Optimization is vital for an online business’ success.

Affiliate Marketing is by far, one of the easiest ways to make money online. It is a revenue sharing business relationship between the affiliate who agrees to promote the products or services, and the merchant who offers them.

The fourth quality one must possess is discipline.

May 31st, 2008

If one knows how to teach himself to work everyday with all the energy he can muster, then he is close to achieving what he has set his heart to having in the first place.

Affiliate marketing is some sort of business relationship established between a merchant and his affiliates. In affiliate marketing, an affiliate agrees to direct some traffic to a merchant’s website.  If that traffic is converted into some kind of action, like a visitor purchasing a product on the merchant’s website or a visitor becoming a lead for the company, the affiliate who directed the traffic will be compensated.  Compensation may take the form of either a percentage sales commission for the sales generated or a fixed fee predetermined upon the application of the affiliate on the merchant’s affiliate program.

2.Free Advertising

3.Gain High Search Engine Ranking

contacting other webmasters for a possible link exchange

Those who have been in the business long enough can attest to the fact that it is a lucrative business indeed, one that can actually give people things that they could not possibly possess or experience under ordinary circumstances.

For example, in reading a logic book, university students look for the following: Relevant logic concepts use of simple language, easy to understand and affordable prices. These similar ideas can be applied to Internet Sales as well. After all, the Internet is just another place to sell products. The basic concept of demand is the same there as it is anywhere else, and has been all the time.

What Is Niche Marketing, and Do I Need It?

The next significant factor for an effective search engine optimization is to include keywords and phrases within your content. To make sure that you are properly targeting your market, you have to make sure that the keywords and phrases you have on your site are the keywords and phrase that your site is actually optimized for. The more keywords you use in your content, the more likely it is that online visitors will find your site when they do some research with those words. If you are unfailing with these techniques, then your overall search engine optimization will increase, boosting your page rank.

Always keep in mind that search engine optimization methods are important in developing your site’s status. With that thing in mind, make sure that you write high-quality, keyword rich content and link your site to and from a deliberate family of other sites. These things will help improve your site’s popularity and coerce increased business through your online business.

Who is Behind that Website? Ask Whois!

October 20th, 2007

Who, exactly, stands behind that website on your screen? Does that web page really belong to the company it claims to represent?

A handy little applet, known as a “Whois”, can tell you who is behind a web page before you make that final click or download that free offer.

What is a Whois?

A Whois is a software utility, or applet, that looks up information about individual websites. A Whois will reveal whatever information is currently available for any website.

A Whois will find the Domain Name and the IP Address so you will at least know the identity of the registered owner of the domain (website).

The exception is when an owner of a website lists it as “private”. In that case, the only information available is whether the website really exists.

How much, or how little, information available for a Whois query depends on what the owner of the Domain Name decides to make public. Thankfully, most serious businesses provide ample information.

Companies usually want to make it easy for customers to get in touch; they list every possible way to reach them. They list telephone and fax numbers, physical (street) and postal addresses, and of course email contacts, in order to attract prospective customers.

A personal website owner, though, might be wiser to list only the minimum required data, or even register as “private”. That way, she could avoid attracting unwanted sales pitches, spammers, or perhaps even worse.

Someone with a day job would not be at home during office hours, anyway. As well, who needs strangers from distant time zones phoning in the middle of the night? So he may not list his phone number.

How does a Whois work?

Not all Whois applications search ALL domains. Each Domain Registrar is responsible for maintaining a Whois over those domains (websites) registered with him. When the internet was in its infancy, each Whois was designated to search only one type of domain; there was one Whois for “.COM”, another for “.ORG”, and so on.

Even today, many Whois utilities are still dedicated to one domain type or to one Registrar (the agency where you have registered your Domain Name). To facilitate searching, we now have publicly accessible Whois software that can search all Domain Registrars plus all Hosting Servers for any type of domain.

We will consider two categories of Whois software:
a) Free Whois software
b) Affordable, commercial Whois software that you pay to use

Which type Whois is best for me?

Naturally, that depends on how you are going to use a Whois, something you will only know after having tried a few different Whois services.

While learning how to use a Whois, the free ones are easy on your pocketbook and deliver results that are just as accurate as any other model. They all search the same data bases, after all!

When using a free, no-frills, Whois you may have to Cut-and-Paste the URL (web address) from your browser address bar to the Whois search box manually.

The free Whois will then probably present the information in a more primitive format — that is, in a long text-based list of line after line of data. This requires more work, as it is more difficult to glean the information that you need.

For infrequent use, a free Whois will do. It makes sense to start with free software until you know enough to decide whether to spend money on an easier program. It is quite likely that you may never need to buy a Whois program at all.

If you decide to buy faster, easier commercial Whois software, it can be had for $25 or so.

Any commercial program should install an icon in your browser toolbar so all you need do is click on the icon. Then the application reads the URL of the website currently in your browser window and looks it up automatically. No Cut-and-Paste contortions.

Finally, it should open a new, graphical “results” window where it displays the information in a neat, perceptible manner. You get all the data without the clutter of a text-based display.

What can a Whois tell you about a website?

Suppose you are searching the internet and you find an appealing site: “HONEST-SITE.COM”. First, you want to see who they really are. A Whois search usually tells you:

i) The true Domain Name, hopefully, HONEST-SITE.COM in this instance.

ii) The IP Address of the website, e.g., 123.45.0.234 (four groups of numbers from 0-255, separated from one another by periods (dots). Try typing those numbers into your browser address bar — it should bring up the same website again.

iii) Any other contact information available.
As well, you can expect to find information about who hosts the website (supplies the Web Server):

iv) The name of the Hosting Company (Domain Name Server or Web Server), e.g., “WORLDSBESTDOMAINSHOP.COM”

v) The IP Address of that Web Server, including contact email addresses and phone numbers

vi) The email addresses for their Administrator (ADMIN) and Webmaster (TECH).

A Whois reveals whatever information is available for any website, so you can see who stands behind it. And yes, as you have guessed by now, a Whois is a quick and ideal way to unmask faked (phishing) websites.
